2012 CLS Recertification

Your current certification is good for five years. It will expire on December 31, 2017, for those who originally certified in 2012.

Recertification Options

  1. CERTIFY AS AN IBCLC (no fee)

    If you have become an IBCLC since you became a CLS, just submit the Recertification Form to let us know the year and your IBCLC number for our files, and nothing else needs to be done!

  2. RETAKE THE CLS COURSE (only the course fee)

    If you have retaken or plan to retake the CLS course since your initial certification, submit the Recertification Form to let us know the year and city where you retook or will retake the exam.

  3. ACQUIRE 25 L or E (or a combination of both) CERPs ($175)

    CERPs (Continuing Education Recognition Points) are awarded to programs by the IBLCE, and this is the continuing education you must submit to use this option. If you have accrued 25 or more L (Lactation) or E (Ethics) CERPs (or a combination of both), submit the Recertification Form and pay the $175 fee by check or Paypal:

  4. TAKE THE HOME RECERTIFICATION EXAM ($175)

    If you prefer to recertify by short answer (not multiple choice), 50 question exam, submit the Recertification Form and pay the $175 fee by check or Paypal. After the fee is received, the exam will be emailed to you. You will then have two (2) weeks to complete the exam and email it back. A score of 75% or better is required to pass. You can use textbooks or other written information to take the exam, however we request you do not talk to anyone else about the test.

ALL documentation (CERPs/retaking CLS course/exam MUST be submitted to LEC NO LATER than December 8, 2017. A late fee will apply after December 8. Nothing will be accepted after December 22. If you do not recertify by December 31, 2017, you will have to retake the CLS course again.
